It’s only been about nine months since we returned from Budapest, but we’ve finally had the chance to use the Unicum Next we purchased in a cocktail. (If you’re ever in Budapest, definitely take the time to visit the Zwack Heritage and Visitor’s Center. I don’t recall if they still make the product at this facility, but it’s a great little tour and the distillery has a pretty incredible story.)

This cocktail is “Transatlantic” because it pairs a little bit of Europe from the Unicum Next with some North American in the Bacanora Blanco. This Bacanora has an almost eucalyptus herbal note to it, which stands up perfectly against the spiced sweetness of the Unicum. The Pimento Bitters are there to reinforce the spice and round out the flavor.

This cocktail is spirited, spiced, and almost reminds me of a poached spiced pear (in a very good way!)  I’ll definitely be back for more of this cocktail in the winter.

The Transatlantic

This spirited cocktail is all about the spice - with Unicum Next and Pimento bitters standing up against a backbone of Bacanora.
