We’ve been sharing our own cocktail creations and mixings with you for a few years now on the blog, but recently a reader sent us this photo and a recipe of his own. The recipe sounded so good, I got his permission to share it here!

Sharfiq Cosby was frustrated with guests at his bar complaining that his Long Island Ice Teas weren’t “strong” enough(with 2.5 oz of booze no less!) Despite his best efforts to make a great cocktail that tastes good, they were focused on the alcohol content. And so the search for the perfect alternative began!

This cocktail – “The Best Policy” is the final result of his experimentation.

I particularly liked the use of cream of coconut in this one. It’s certainly not “the same thing” as a Long Island Ice Tea, but I can definitely see how the flavor would be superior in many ways. It’s definitely leaning heavily towards the “tiki” style and features Rum and Amaretto side by side. In summary – it’s just my style.

Thank you Sharfiq for sharing your recipe and pictures with us! If any other readers out there have recipes you’d like to share, definitely don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to feature your cocktail next!

The Best Policy Cocktail
