This week’s cocktail is a little bit … dare I say old school. It’s not one of Chris’ creations, but rather straight out of the Savoy Cocktail book.

It has the weight of a manhattan but the flavor is definitely very similar. It’s brandy forward with the smooth sweetness I’d expect from 1/2 oz of Cointreau.

While it’s unlikely your bartender will have heard of it, I think this drink has earned a spot on my home bar menu. It’s very approachable, spirit forward, smooth, slightly sweet – and better yet, made of only three ingredients that you’re very likely to have. (By the way  – I’d be curious to swap orange bitters into this one – I’ll let you know the next time I try!)
