Is it just me…

Or is the Highball in fashion again? I was recently in a restaurant where they had a whole section of their cocktail menu dedicated to Highballs – with a variety of options, from simple classics to more “crafty” options. While it doesn’t get much simpler than a two-part build cocktail, that doesn’t mean they can’t be delicious.

This week we’re doing our own take on the “Highball” with this very (very) simple cocktail. (Can you even call it a cocktail, really?)
Chris chose Johnny Walker Black Label because,

It is one of the most under-estimated whiskeys available. When you add ice, sparkling or still water it seems to take on a very different flavor. So it seemed perfect for this very simple drink.

Simple, yet Complex

Adding soda water in this case really highlighted the smoky nature of the whiskey, while brightening it up with effervescence. The combination was both refreshing and complex – something you wouldn’t expect from a bit of whiskey and water.

Highballs are back in fashion - and this one’s about as simple as it gets.
